Time for a quick update on the class of 2012. Below is one of the Serrano seedlings – all of which are looking very healthy. I’ve pretty much got rid of the aphids that had taken hold on the seedlings. The Aji Hot’s (below) are producing their first true sets of leaves thanks to my…
After some good germination rates on my fist batch of peppers this year the first issue I ran into was an aphid infestation in my seedling light box. It’s quite common to get aphids when growing indoors so it wasn’t the greatest surprise when i noticed the little green critters munching their way into my…
This great recipe was put together by by wife. A simple to make yet delicious dish. I’m assured the pastry is incredibly easy to make, and I can definitely confirm it tastes every bit as good as it looks! Asparagus & Chilli Tart Ingredients Pastry 220g plain flour Large pinch of salt 100g Butter (cold)…
I was taking a few pictures of this years first batch of seedlings when i saw something worrying… ..what caught my eye is the dark lumps on the under sides of the leaves. Aphids. For the last 3 years i’ve been using a home made light box to help increase the early season growth of my chillies. I’ve mentioned the box before but never really gone into a lot of detail about how it’s made. In this post i’ll break down the components used in it ans explain how i made…
As i’ve discussed before there are loads of different ways to germinate chilli seeds and everyone has their favourite method. I usually use a regular propagator placed on top of a reptile heat mat in order to boost the heat delivered to the seeds (it’s also much cheaper than a heated propagator). I did this for the fist week after…
